Who carries pepper spray?

Lots of people all over the world carry pepper spray from ordinary citizens to security guards, to police officers. Mail carriers are issued defensive sprays by the USPS as the primary defense against dog attacks and dog bites. Every law enforcement officer in this country carries one. Military and National Guard troops throughout the country carry pepper spray. Police and other law enforcement officers carry pepper spray for crowd control and criminal apprehension. Why? It is a simple, highly effective and easy to use personal protection product. Perhaps, if you knew some of the people who use pepper spray, it might persuade you how effective it is and change your mind about whether you should purchase and carry one. Next to running away, is the most popular self-defense item there is. Pepper Spray (or similar agents) has been around for over a millennium, ever since Chinese warriors threw bags of hot spices at their enemies. I don’t know if you have accidently gotten pepper in your eyes while cooking, and remember the highly unpleasant immobilizing sensation. Now imagine something hotter, and directly sprayed into your eyes. It would be very incapacitating, and that the idea. Defense sprays such as pepper spray is a way to deal with someone in a non-lethal method. I’ve discussed the various types of sprays, and have recommended the OC pepper spray.

Many of the lab certified products we carry are 17% concentration or more of oleoresin capsicum (OC) a derivative of one of the hottest peppers in the world. A short spray in the face of OC will disable an assailant for 45 minutes or more. A person will find their eyes immediately closing, followed by uncontrollable tearing, coughing, possibly choking plus an extreme burning sensation on any exposed skin and mucous membranes. In the late 1980’s the Federal Bureau of Investigations began to study and test OC sprays extensively, authorized the use of OC pepper spray by their. Currently, it is extensively used for female self-defense around the planet.

I found and interesting story that the latest users for female self-defense are the Uganda defense ministry for buying pepper sprays for use by young women in their country to fight off rapists. According to a recent study defilement and rape were among the top crimes in Uganda. Unfortunately many are not reported. The same is true in the United States. According to RAINN, 54% of sexual assaults are not reported, and 97% of rapist will never spend a day in jail. So it is up to you, to be responsible for your own self defense. With a pepper spray women can easy easily repel an attacker. Rape is much more than just an assault crime in many countries. It’s used as a political weapon and a powerful one.

In the United States defensive sprays are legal in every state but a few states have legal restrictions on the concentration, size and types of OC spray.. It is illegal even for police officers to carry it in some countries.

Who are other people who use pepper spray.

  • Campers, hikers, hunters, fishermen and other Outdoors-should never go into the back country without pepper spray which is the most effective defense against a bear attack.
  • Professional women like teachers, lawyers, nurses and real estate agents are targets of violence by an overwhelming margin over men. In this day and age women are much more mobile and get around more. This sense of freedom does not go unnoticed by thugs and assailants who continue to target them. Some hospitals are encouraging their employees to carry streetwise pepper spray for female personal protection.
  • Homeowners and apartment dollars should have a pepper spray somewhere in their house to protect them in a home invasion, because you can’t always reach for a gun, but a can of pepper spray near the door is safe and effective. You don’t have to worry if your children get touch it.

Should you carry Pepper Spray

It is up to you. If you have it, you can use it when you need it. If you don’t have it and need it, you have to find another way to protect yourself. Just remember, your life may depend on it. With the increase in crime today, pepper spray, stun guns, tasers and personal alarms are becoming increasingly popular to thwart off a would-be assailant. It is estimated that at least 15,000,000 American’s now carry personal defense sprays, the majority of which are OC pepper sprays
