But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 2 Tim 3:1-4

We all hope that if we are attacked in public by a criminal meant to do us harm that someone will come to our assistance. Sadly this is not always the case. So often in our society a brutal or senseless crime is happening to an helpless citizen, or someone is severely injured, and while there are lots of onlookers, NO ONE does anything to assist them.  Why do people fail to aid their fellow man in time of? Is it because of fear, apathy, indifference or the thought that somebody else will.

Perhaps you may have heard of what happened to American Actress Theresa Saldana. She is best known for her work in motion pictures and television. She is also known for an incident that brought attention to stalker after surviving an attempted murder by an obsessed fan in 1982. Here we are in 2009 and we see more and more incidents of people just not caring.

Richmond, California, authorities reported Monday that a 15-year-old girl was gang-raped, beaten, and robbed outside of Richmond High School Friday night after leaving a homecoming dance and no one reported it. Police have arrested two teens in connection with the rape and are currently searching for five others suspected of participating in the attack. Police found that the victim had been raped and beaten multiple times over a two-hour period outside the Richmond High School gym with as many as a dozen people looking on and not one person had called 911, or tried to stop this, or did ANYTHING to help her. It is also believed that numerous people walked by the incident while it was ongoing and also chose to not report what was happening.

According to the Richmond Police “She was raped, beaten, robbed and dehumanized by several suspects who were obviously OK enough with it to behave that way in each other’s presence. What makes it even more disturbing is the presence of others. People came by, saw what was happening and failed to report it.” Police said they found the girl semi-conscious at a picnic table near the gym after someone had tipped them late Friday night that a possible assault had taken place on the Richmond High School campus. She had left the dance to meet her father for a ride home. A classmate invited her to join a group drinking near the high school gym. Police found that the victim had consumed a large amount of alcohol by the time the rapes began.

Investigators also found that there were four policemen and three school administrators at the dance that night, but they were monitoring the dance itself. The rapes occurred outside the Richmond High School gym. The 15-year-old victim was treated and hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital.

You may have seen the following incident on MSNBC’s Caught on Camera. In Detroit Michigan, Leonard Sims a 91 year old WWII Veteran was beaten during a carjacking of his Chevy Malibu in a liquor store parking lot. The low life perpetrator who did this as Deonte Edward Bradley, age 22 of Detroit.

What is going on with people today?

 Are we just that uncaring?

Someone please tell me?

Are we that unGody?
